Greetings from Maine

Phoebe and I arrived in Maine on Friday. So far, she has enjoyed my birthday candles, and a walk to the park to watch her cousin Abrahm learn to ice skate. She was a great traveler, but we're happy to have two more full days at Oma and Grandpa's house before we fly again. We'll both be happy to see Daddy on Friday.

Finally, some fresh air!

For the first time, we loaded Phoebe up and went for a walk. Alisa is practicing carrying her as she will need to in the airport next Friday when the two of them travel to Maine for a week. She loved the bright sun and the motion seemed to calm her as we enjoyed our January (31st) thaw--the only day above freezing this month!

8 Weeks--our camera is back.

The digital camera simply needed some new batteries. I made the leap to rechargables . . . how did I miss that investment before? Anyway, her eyes are big and blue! She's sleeping well at night, for the most part and we're slowly developing some routines around here.

Phoebe?

For those of you who check our blog regularly (you are probably just a few anymore) have probably noticed that it's been two weeks since our last update. Well, our camera broke (or something) Monday when I was taking pics of kids doing a service project on MLK Day.

So today I thought I would google "Phoebe" to see what I could find. Of course there is the bird. I was hoping the phoebe bird wasn't hideous. As you can see, it's not as cute as our daughter, but I guess it's a cute bird too.

The other one that popped up was actress Phoebe Cates. Well, most of her photos were in bikinis (as she spent most of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" in one), so instead I pulled a picture of her classmate Spicoli and her teacher Mr Hand from the same film.

Hopefully I can fix our camera so as not to be so pathetic. More soon (I hope).

5 Weeks Old

Grandpa and Oma arrived from Maine Thursday, the day Phoebe turned 5 weeks old. She's made some dramatic changes as well: she's sleeping longer at night and shorter during the day, smiling a lot more, and (our least favorite calamity) fussing a ton more when she should be going down to sleep. Despite the fussiness, she's still the cutest baby to me!

Happy New Year!

Clearly, she doesn't get her hair from either of us. I thought it was sticking up due to her sleeping/thrashing, but this is straight out of the bath. It's very vertical and very soft.

Grandma and Grandpa Martinson spent the week with us and it was a wonderful visit. They had a rough train ride (delays) with all the storms in the Pacific NW, but they made it nevertheless.

Christmas with the Geissingers

We spent Christmas at Glenn and Arlene's home with Ben, Leslie, and Abrahm. It's always great to feel so welcome there--thanks! Phoebe's Christmas outfit (the onesie from my coworker Char) was a bit snug around her belly as you can see, but we'll get some more wearings out of it. The cute stocking cap was a gift from the volunteers at Methodist Hospital; her large cranium was a bit too much for the little hat though.

Two and a half weeks old

Well, she rolled from her tummy to her back three times today. She's 17 days old going on 3 months?

Alisa stopped in to her clinic yesterday to visit her co-workers. She weighed Phoebe: she's up to 9lbs 8oz! Apparently, babies are doing well if they get back up to birth weight at their 2 week visit. She eats like a Viking and I guess it's paying off!

Cousin Abrahm visited this week. Baby Phoebe was "too loud--hard to sleep"--according to Abrahm. He also thought she was too little and couldn't play with his digger. But clearly he still loved his cousin as you can see below.

She's getting a bit fussier at bedtime and requires much soothing. It's harder on us, but a part of the gig I guess! Take care and have a wonderful Christmas everyone. We'll surely have a couple more holiday pictures to post this week.

Saturday Night Bath with Aunt Leslie

Leslie arrived today to spend some time with us. Hopefully cousin Abram and Uncle Ben will be here soon too! Saturday night was bath night. It took some serious scrubbing to get all the dried milk out of those cravasses. Did you notice Phoebe has big cheeks?
